PPE is a non-crystalline Polyether thermoplastic also known as Polyphenylene Ether. PPE has excellent electrical properties and a good resistance to acids but can be affected by hydrocarbons. PPE can also be injection moulded or extruded. PPE is characterised by its excellent mechanical and dielectric strength, low moisture absorption and good dimensional stability.
PPE is usually used in applications like household equipment, automotive items and general electronics because it has good insulating properties over a wide range of temperatures and humidity. PPE is also used commonly in sterilised medical instruments that are made of plastic.
